The Project

Snack App is changing the way we relax at the movies. They want to build an app that not only makes ordering snacks quick and convenient but will also drive sales, keep lines short, keep labor costs down and add perks for users, all while keeping the design modern, fun and interactive. Snack Apps target market are busy parents and avid movie goers.

The Problem and Solution

The Problem and Solution

Our goal is to design an app that is  accessible to everyone in our target market and to include new innovations like seat delivery. Also our priority is speed and ease with as few clicks as possible.

Usability Research

My Role and Responsibilities

UX designer, ux writer,  researcher, from conception to launch.

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users, I’m
designing for their needs. A primary user group identified through research
was busy parents.

This user group confirmed initial assumptions about Snack Apps customers, but research
also revealed that time was not the only factor limiting users from having a fun time retrieving snacks.
Other user problems included obligations, expense, stress, or challenges that make it
difficult to get snacks at the theater before the movie starts.

TIME

Busy parents are often juggling a lot, sometimes run late to the movies and do not want to wait in line with antsy kids.

ACCESSABILITY

Menu is hard to read from far away. App should be equipped with assistive technology for this and for others with challenges.

UI

Users want to see what is available for delivery on a particular day. Sometimes the need for flowers is ASAP.

EXPENSE

Movie snacks are super expensive. Let’s give them some rewards for being great customers as well as other perks for their loyalty.

User Persona

Wireframes

I knew I wanted as few clicks as possible while still keeping it interesting. I also wanted it easily accessible for the reading impaired with images and symbols with the least amount of text possible to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
